Everything You Need to Know As a Patient at Coquitlam Dental Clinic

New Patients

We are always happy to see new patients, and we appreciate the referral of your friends and family. For your initial visit, please arrive approximately 15 minutes before your appointment time in order to complete the forms we require prior to treatment. It is important to bring with you information about your current and past medical history, any medications you may be taking, and your dental insurance coverage. Our friendly staff can help you with filling out the forms.

Dental Insurance Policy

Dental insurance is a contract between the patient, their employer or union, and the insurance company. We are not a party to that contract, but as a convenience for our patients we will work with most dental plans by processing claims for treatment and accepting payment directly from the insurance company for the portion covered by the plan. There are a wide variety of dental plans with varying benefit levels, so it impossible for us to know all the details about every patient’s coverage. It is the patient’s responsibility to understand their plan and to keep us informed about any changes. Because the treatment is provided to the patient, not the insurance company, you are legally responsible for all costs not covered by the dental plan. To assist you in determining what your dental plan covers, we can send in a pre-determination request to the insurance company prior to commencing treatment. Once this is received (many dental plans send these only to the patient, not to us, so please advise us when you receive it) we can review this with you and provide a treatment estimate for you.

Dental Fees

Our fees generally follow the fee guide which is set by the BC Dental Association and is followed by most dental plans. Payment for your portion of our fees is due as treatment is rendered, and we accept Visa, MasterCard, Interac, and cash.

Appointment Reminders

We primarily use email and/or text messaging to remind our patients about their scheduled appointments and when they are due for their checkup and cleaning appointments. You will be asked to update this information whenever you come into the office. Also, we regularly send out e-newsletters. These are the only reasons we ask for your email and text contact information, and this information will not be shared with/sold to any other organization or company.

Missed Appointment Policy

While we will make every effort to confirm your appointment with you, it is ultimately your responsibility to remember, and attend your appointments. If you are not able to attend an appointment we require 24 hours’ notice, otherwise a fee may be charged.
